David Goodwin is a founding and 2-time president of the Florida Ornithological Society and was the Regional Coordinator of the Florida Breeding Atlas Project. David has led hundreds of field trips for Audubon Chapters and the Florida Ornithological Society. He has traveled extensively throughout the US, the Caribbean, and Europe. He currently is an environmental instructor at the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in St Pete.

April equals Spring Migration so we will be having a birding day with David Goodwin. The park is well known to be a hot spot for rarities and for the surprise fallouts of all sorts of feathered friends. Fort DeSoto is one of the first pieces of land migratory birds arrive at when flying over the Gulf of Mexico into Florida.

Species that we are in hopes of seeing warblers, flycatchers, vireos, tanagers, thrushes orioles. Last year we saw Kentucky Warblers, Brown Thrushes, Mango Cuckoo, Eastern Pee Wee, Tennessee Warbler just to name a few, and there were sightings of Blue-Winged Warbler and a Gold Winged Warbler.
There will be plenty of shorebirds and nesting Opsrey’s and maybe a Great-Horned Owl.

Again, carpooling may be available if needed…
